TEXAS PLANTS NEED COVERED UP

I have a miniture bananna tree. The weather is getting cold and your outdoor plants need covered up at this time.

My bannana tree seems like it is dying anyway. I have been covering it up. What am I doing wrong?

  3. Granny,
I have to tell you that I loved my own "Granny" very much. She was short, had red hair, and her whole body jiggled when she laughed. She laughed a lot. I miss her. I lost her twenty years ago but she is not far from my heart so when I saw your post on my blog, I have to admit my heart did a little flutter thing.

Thank you for the advise on the ants. I'll try it. I hadn't thought about grits, because mostly I eat them, but hey if the ants like them then I am all for it. I don't know why they want to come inside my house when they have the whole front yard and about sixty other houses in this subdivision to invade.

Grits. (Scratching my head) I don't really have ant hills. These are those pesky little sugar ants or carpenter ants. Maybe I'll just sprinkle some grits all around the yard. Do you think that would work?

I hope you have a VERY MERRY HOLIDAY SEASON. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face tonight.

Good luck with the blog! You're doing wonderfully!

  4. P.S. Mother says if you have a bannana plant that you should bring it inside during the cooler months. They are a tropical plant and cannot take the cooler tempratures. Hope that helps. I would put it in a nice sunny spot!

  5. Oh, what a wonderful thing to say. My Grandma was from Sweden and met my Grandpa in Cuba. (He was born in Texas and was a Texas Ranger.) My Grandma died when I was 3, but you know, I remember her as if it were yesterday. I lived with my Grandparents until she passed. They say your memory is not able to remember things at such a young age, but I beg to differ. I remember well. Her accent, smell, hugs, laughter. It was not until later years that I found out that my Dad was born cecerean (spelling?) by my great Aunt in her house. My Grandma suffered many years in pain from it. But she lived and so did my Daddy. I can not tell you how much I miss my loved ones passed. But, thanks be I will someday be there by them walking the streets of gold...and I am not afraid. :)
If it is sugar ants, I do not know how to fix that one. I fight them still.
